Richard Vest BSc MRICS started his career in 1983 working for a firm of architects as an Architectural Technician, gaining experience in designing schools, council buildings, commercial warehouses and houses.

House extensions became one of his specialities in his spare time and he has continued with this element of work throughout his career. He is able to offer a complete design service, including the calculation of structural steel and timber beams, to provide a package of documents for submission to the Planning and Building Control authorities

After becoming a Chartered Building Surveyor in 1995 he worked in local Government managing a team of property specialists involved in all aspects of domestic and commercial property management.  Some significant commissions include the design of a new 6 bay fire station, the major refurbishment of the buildings and pool plant at three leisure centres and a theatre.  He also gained experience of working in social housing, liaising with tenants and managing several phases of kitchen and bathroom refurbishments

In 2011 Richard started his own company, Richard Vest Architectural Design Ltd, with Rachel Mason BSc providing Computer Aided Design (CAD) services and office administration. 

Stephen Nokes, a chartered building surveyor, joined us in January 2017.  Richard and Stephen worked together managing Ipswich Borough Council's property during the 1990's.  Stephen is a welcome addition to the team and brings with him a breadth of experience and capabilities.

Leah Collins BA (Hons), joined us in Jan 2020 after completing her degree at The University of Essex.  She is working as an apprentice Architectural Technican and is also attending college locally to study Construction.  She has already proved herself to be very benefical to the company being such a whizz on the computer.
